Day 3 – 10Company Formation — questions we get asked
Yes. Free zone companies have always allowed full foreign ownership, and since the 2021 amendments to the Commercial Companies Law the majority of mainland commercial and industrial activities also permit 100% foreign ownership without an Emirati partner. A small list of strategic-impact activities still requires a UAE national shareholder — we check your specific activity before you pay anything.
A straightforward free zone licence is typically issued in 3 to 7 working days once documents are in order. Mainland licences usually take 7 to 14 working days because of external approvals. Regulated activities such as financial services, healthcare or education take longer as they need approval from the relevant authority.
For most free zones, no — incorporation can be completed remotely with notarised and attested documents, or via video verification. You will need to enter the UAE for your Emirates ID biometrics and medical test if you are taking a residence visa, and most banks require at least one in-person meeting for account opening.
The lowest headline prices are zero-visa free zone packages starting around AED 12,500 per year. But the cheapest licence is rarely the cheapest outcome: if the package does not allow the visas, office type or activities you need, you pay again to restructure. We quote the total cost of ownership over three years, not just year one.
